Nvidia Raises AI Server Pricing Over 15% Due to Increasing Memory Expenses in 2027

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Nvidia is planning to implement price hikes exceeding 15% for numerous AI server configurations scheduled for shipment in early 2027. These price increases apply to systems built on the company’s Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell platforms. The extent of each increase varies depending on the chip generation and memory configuration. Nvidia has not publicly announced a blanket price rise for all its server products. Additionally, server manufacturers have communicated these new pricing details to key data center clients.

Major data center operators, including Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, have been informed of the new prices by server manufacturers. These companies purchase large volumes of AI infrastructure for cloud and data center services. The rising costs of memory have become a significant factor influencing the reported server price adjustments. AI systems require large amounts of high-bandwidth and server memory alongside GPUs, CPUs, networking equipment, and storage. The demand generated by AI deployments has kept several memory categories tight throughout 2026.

According to TrendForce, typical DRAM contract prices are expected to increase between 13% and 18% in the third quarter of 2026. The same forecast predicts NAND Flash contract prices will go up by 10% to 15% during this period. The market research firm indicated that server DRAM remains undersupplied as suppliers prioritize capacity for AI-related applications. While some long-term supply agreements have limited the scope of price increases, overall server memory costs stay elevated.

Memory costs escalate amid persistent high demand for AI servers

In May, Nvidia announced that Vera Rubin had entered full production with server manufacturers and supply-chain partners worldwide. The company stated that products utilizing Rubin would be available in the second half of 2026. Vera Rubin integrates the Vera CPU, Rubin GPU, NVLink 6, ConnectX-9, BlueField-4, and Spectrum-6 networking technologies. It succeeds Grace Blackwell as Nvidia’s latest rack-scale architecture designed for demanding AI workloads. System manufacturers are developing Rubin-based products for cloud providers, AI labs, and hyperscale data centers.

Grace Blackwell remains a key component of Nvidia’s current data center product lineup. The GB200 NVL72 design connects 36 Grace CPUs with 72 Blackwell GPUs within a liquid-cooled rack. Nvidia built this system to function as a single NVLink computing domain suitable for large AI models. The reported price increases for servers vary depending on configuration, with memory capacity and chip generation playing crucial roles. Therefore, the 15% increase does not uniformly apply to every Nvidia server model.

Expansion of Vera Rubin production across Nvidia’s server portfolio

Memory suppliers are reallocating production toward server and high-performance products as AI demand continues to absorb capacity. According to TrendForce, this shift has reduced supply for some PC and consumer DRAM products. While server shipments remained robust throughout 2026, buyers kept building up inventories of data center memory. Market analysts project that server DRAM supply will stay tight into 2027, as demand growth outstrips new supply. These market conditions underpin the pricing adjustments Nvidia is implementing.

Nvidia is entering this pricing period with record data center sales. In its fiscal first quarter ending April 26, the company reported total revenue of $81.6 billion. Its Data Center division achieved a record $75.2 billion, representing a 92% increase from the previous year. Nvidia forecasted second-quarter revenue of around $91 billion, plus or minus 2%, when releasing those results in May. The company is scheduled to publish its fiscal second-quarter earnings on Aug. 26.
